Class Memoriam
May 31, 1964
Richard George Sheneman, 21, a resident of
Lewiston most of his life, died at 6 a.m. yesterday at the Fairchild Air Force
Base hospital at Spokane of cancer. He was admitted to the hospital Monday in
the last of several attempts to save his life. His right leg was amputated at
the hip in 1962 in an effort to halt the disease.
He was born Jan. 5, 1943 at Spokane and moved
to Lewiston with his parents when he was three. He attended schools at Lewiston
before enlisting in the Air Force in 1960. While in the service he completed
high school at San Rafael (Calif.) High School. He fell ill of cancer while in
the service and the amputation was performed at that time.
Upon his return to Lewiston he was employed for
a some months by Idaho Mining & Milling, Inc. Last fall he moved to Coeur
d’Alene, where he worked for Pendar Corp., an electronics firm until his illness
was aggravated a month ago.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church at
Lewiston Orchards. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orville F.
Sheneman, Lewiston Orchards, a brother, William, O., Lewiston, and a sister,
Mrs. Glenn Ullrich, Spokane.
The body will be returned to Lewiston for
funeral and burial. Arrangements are pending. The family suggests donations to
the Cancer Fund.
