ROBERT P. RIEBE

Robert P. Riebe, a counselor at Rogers
Counseling Center at Clarkston, died Tuesday of complications from heart
surgery. He was 53 and lived in Lewiston. He was born Sept. 29, 1943, at
Ashland, Wis., to Floyd A. and Evelyn E. Trogan Riebe. He lived there until
1951, when the family moved to Lewiston. He graduated from Lewiston High School
in 1961.
After graduation, he attended the University of
Idaho in Moscow for one year and Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston for a
year. In 1964 he entered the U.S. Air Force, spending most of his enlistment at
Anchorage, Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1968 as a sergeant.
Riebe returned to Lewiston and was a ticket
agent for Greyhound Bus Co. for two years. For a number of years, he was the
custodian at the Lewiston Eagles Lodge. Several years ago he began working for
Asotin County Mental Health, which became Rogers Counseling Center.
He married Lei Lani Michaels in 1976 at
Tacoma. They later divorced. Riebe enjoyed dogs, music, and spending time with
his family. He also enjoyed sports, especially Washington State University
football and basketball and Atlanta Braves baseball. He was a member of both
Lewiston and Clarkston Eagles lodges, Clarkston Moose Lodge, Lewiston VFW Post
10043 and Trinity Lutheran Church at Lewiston.
He is survived by his father, Floyd Riebe of
Lewiston; one brother, Gary Riebe of Lewiston; one sister, Gail Sumerfelt of
Marshall, Minn., three stepdaughters, Melinda Michaels of Asotin, Robin Wirick
of Spokane, and Diane Kirkpatrick of Dallas; and three stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at
Mountain View Funeral Home at Lewiston. The service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at
Mountain View Funeral Home. The Rev. Charlene Rachuy of Trinity Lutheran Church
in Lewiston will officiate. Burial at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston will
